February! a little love, a little rain, a little music!

I would generally call myself a lyrics person when it comes to music. Poetry set to music, words that I relate to, or a story that seems meaningful to the artist singing it tend to be what I gravitate towards most often. I don't listen to a lot of mainstream music as I find it lacking more often than not in that department though I know I've missed out on some great rhythms and sounds because of it. For my February mix I wanted to break out of my normal box a bit and get back to a basic appreciation of music - sound without as much focus on the words (or just their meaning). I listened to a large variety of music from around the world while working on putting together this mix- some great, some weird, some a bit too traditional for me outside of their own settings (I've decided tribal chanting plays much better with a campfire and an actual tribe than on an mp3 player in an urban setting). The tracks chosen are sounds that I appreciated and that stayed with me after hearing them. Hopefully everyone will find a few sounds in this mix that they enjoy as well.
